12 Days of Fitness Challenge: Day 12

HO HO HO! MERRY FITNESS! I mean CHRISTMAS, everyone!!! You’ve come a long way since day 1. But your final challenge is to get outside and try out some intervals. When talking about cardio, intervals have been shown in countless studies to give you the best bang for your buck when it comes to what we all need this time of year, FAT BURN!

The concept is super simple 1:1. That means 1 minute of high intensity (about an 7 to an 8 out of 10 on the Rate of Perceived Exertion scale); to 1 minute of a recovery (3 on the RPE scale). For me thats a fast run/walk, but it will be a little different for everybody!

Let’s face it– between all the present opening, yule log burning and carol singing, all you want to do is veg out. I totally get it. But a body in motion STAYS in motion. So get up off your booty for just a little on a Christmas as beautiful as today and move! Because it feels so good!

If you’re in the mood for a serious workout, add up all of the moves for a full body fat burning workout. The goal would be to get through the workout as quickly as you can, but with good form, taking minimal breaks between the exercises. But if you’d absolutely rather space out the moves throughout the day, I’m totally fine with that too! Here’s what that will look like:

-1 minute plank walk
-20 burpees
-3 types of lunges (1 set of 10 rounds on each side)
-40 lying leg lifts
-5 walkouts
-60 band step touches
-7 second tricep dips
-80 walking lunges
-90 bicep curls
-10 pulsing squats
-11 renegade pushups (2 sets)
-12 minute intervals

Have a healthy, figo holiday!!
